I'm about to buy a gold button key to replace the fuel filter on my car and I was wondering how to turn the fate thing. His type is an extension of 3 / 8 ", and intuitively, it seems that just capture as making the unit essentially revolves around the center of the pin, if you know what I mean …. hard to explain, but it seems it would work, but again I have a simple mind. Olympic Competitions and the Metric System of Measurement

The metric system of measurement is an internationally agreed-upon set of units for expressing the amounts of various quantities such as length, mass, time, and temperature. As of now, every nation in the world has adopted the metric system, with only four exceptions: the United States, Brunei, Burma, and Yemen (which use the English units of measurement). Because of its convenience and consistency, scientists have used the metric system of units for more than 200 years. Originally, the metric system was based on only three fundamental units: the meter for length, the kilogram for mass, and the second for time. Today, there are more than 50 officially recognized units for various scientific quantities.

The Metric system was developed in France during the Napoleonic reign of France in the 1790′s. The metric system has several advantages over the English system due to which the scientific community has adopted the metric system almost from its inception. In fact, the metric system missed being nationalized in U.S. by one vote in the Continental Congress in the late 1700′s or early 1800′s. As it is used by most nations of the world, it has commercial and trade advantage. If American manufacturers having both domestic and international customers are to compete, they have to absorb the added cost of dealing with two systems of measurement.

A marathon is an endurance foot race which covers 26 miles, 385 yards (42.2 kilometers). It is named after the Greek Battle of Marathon, which occurred in 490 BCE. In addition to being an Olympic event for both men and women, marathons are run all over the world on a variety of terrain types by athletes at various skill levels. To perform well in a marathon, an athlete undergoes a vigorous period of training to develop stamina and learn his or her physical limitations.

It is said that after the Greeks were victorious over the Persians at the Battle of Marathon, they sent a runner to Athens with the news. The runner, Pheidippides, ran the entire distance to Athens without stopping, announced the victory, and then dropped dead, due to the physical stress on his body caused by the long run. Numerous authors included the story in poems and songs, including Robert Browning in 1876. Browning’s poem inspired Michel Breal, who organized the revival of the Olympic Games in 1896 and included a marathon.

History, however, seems to suggest that Pheidippides was actually sent from Athens to Sparta to request assistance at Marathon. This is how Herodotus, who wrote extensively about the Greco-Persian wars, told the story. A runner was certainly sent from Marathon to Athens to relay the news, but it may not have been Pheidippides, and the journey was probably not completed without a single stop.

In a modern marathon, organizers set out a race course which meets the distance requirement, which was set in the 1908 Olympic Games at London. The course is left open for a set period of time, usually around four hours, and runners who fail to complete the course are picked up and brought to the finish line. In marathons with a larger group of less experienced runners, the course may be left open longer, to allow them to finish. Long distance running is very demanding on the body. Runners have an extensive training program which mixes endurance running with resting, so that the body is not damaged. They also monitor their physical health during the race, in an effort to maintain the proper electrolyte balance so that they do not suffer from an imbalance of salts in the body. 

The Olympics began in 776 B.C. with a single event, a 200-yard dash called a stadion. In time, 2- stadia and 24-stadia events were added, and wrestling appeared in 708 B.C. Eventually, interest in the games declined, and they were discontinued in 394 A.D. In 1896, the modern Olympics were initiated and held in Greece. The games attracted about 500 athletes from 13 nations. Since then, the games have been held at various cities around the world every four years. The games have steadily increased in the number of participants, as well as the number of events. In 1896, 311 men competed from 13 nations, and the United States won gold medals in 9 of the 12 events. In 1996, over 10,000 men and women athletes competed from 197 nations. The summer games feature archery, basketball, boxing, canoeing, cycling, fencing, field hockey, gymnastics, handball, horseback riding, judo, rowing, shooting, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball, water polo, weight lifting, wrestling, and yachting.

In the past, U.S. track and field competitions were conducted using the English system of measurement. That is, American runners competed at distances of 100 yards, 440 yards, and one mile. In Olympic competitions, events are conducted using the metric system owing to its international acceptance. Olympic runners compete at comparable distances such as 100, 400, and 1500 meters. The marathon, however, is an exception. It corresponds to the distance run by the Greek messenger who carried news of the Athenian victory on the Plains of Marathon in 490 B.C. That legendary distance was 26 miles, 385 yards.

In 1924, the Olympic winter games were introduced at Chamonix, France. Subsequently, the winter games have been held three times in the United States, twice at Lake Placid and once at Squaw Valley. The winter games feature skating, skiing, bobsledding, luge, tobogganing, and ice hockey. In Nordic cross-country skiing, the races are 10, 20, 30, and 50 kilometers; in ski jumping, the ramps are 70 and 90 meters. Thus, Olympic competitions – winter and summer – employ the metric system of measurement. The 400-meter Olympic race is nearly identical to 440 yards, and the world records for the two races are within tenths of a second.

I know what you think. What the hell is all this water around me the water heater? It was then realized that there was a leak from the bottom of your tank water. It's almost time for Christmas and now you have for the new water heater and paying someone for the water heater installation. How can it cost? "I can afford?

the simpsons season 9 dvd set question?

so i just got my simpsons season 9 dvd set and i opened it. in the little pouch of the box where you usually get a booklet detailing the episodes enclosed, i only found several collectors post cards, but no booklet.

yet, the box was sealed.

is there supposed to be a booklet detailing the episodes like in all my other colectors sets or is it just the postcards???

That is weird that hasn’t happened to me.
By the way, if you want to find easter eggs, in the episode menu were they show “play episode”, “Scene selection”, if the button on the amp is blinking, select play epside and press up and select, or if there is an extras feature, go left then up.

Sea Fishing Tackle – Hook Sizes Explained

Hooks are hooks in most anglers’ minds. They figure they either need a big one or a small one, depending on the fish they are pursuing. Lots of anglers go through life completely missing the importance of using not only the right size sea hook, but probably most importantly the right type of sea hook.

It’s not just pure fishing luck that makes the difference in all sea anglers catching more than you. Most of the time it’s the hook choice you make on the day. A thick forged hook is not the right choice for small fish, fish with small mouths or soft lipped fish. A thin Aberdeen wire hook that can penetrate quickly in the inside of the mouth would be a better choice however you would also need a hook that holds its strength and shape.

Hook size is probably the first thing a sea angler should think of when buying hooks. Most are smart enough to know which hook is the right size for the fish they are after but it takes experience. Sizes from most manufacturers range from the very smallest freshwater trout hook at a number 32, to the very largest game fish hook at 19/0.

The size breakdown from smallest to largest looks like this:32, 30, 28, 26, 24, 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 11, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1, 1/0, 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, 5/0, 6/0, 7/0, 8/0, 9/0, 10/0, 11/0, 12/0, 13/0, 14/0, 15/0, 16/0, 17/0, 18/0, and 19/0.

In sea fishing in the UK, average range is from a Size 1 to a Size 10/0 been a boat hook. Generally designed for saltwater, it is good for general bottom fishing use. Sizes range from #3 to as large as 19/0.

ABERDEEN
They are generally made from shaped wire. Unlike the O’Shaughnessy, it can and does bend. It can be bent back into shape several times before it becomes too weak. However, once a fish is hook and the barb has completely penetrated, this hook holds very well. These hooks are modified with bends in their shanks for use in jig molds.

CIRCLE
Perhaps the best innovation in hooks to come along, circle hooks promote healthy catch and release. The design of the hook itself, when used properly, prevents fish from being hooked in the gut. Many sea anglers have a problem using these hooks because they require no hook set. If you do try to set the hook, it will generally come out of the mouth of the fish. These hooks are designed to move to the corner of the fish’s mouth and set themselves as the fish swims away from you. Anglers feel a bite and simply begin reeling, slowly at first, then faster as the hook gets set.

LIVE BAIT
These hooks generally have a shorter shank than other hooks. Whether that is to allow the live bait to swim more freely or to be less apparent to the fish is debatable. My vote is to allow the bait to swim more freely. These hooks come in regular and circle designs. Regular live bait hooks will be swallowed and result in gut hooks most of the time. Circle live bait hooks provide a greater chance for a good release.

BAITHOLDER
Baitholder Hooks – These are very widely used by sea anglers. These are good hooks for worm bait they have a ringed eye and have 2 slices or barbs in the shank to assist with holding the bait up the shank of the hook.

KAHLE
The curve on these hooks makes them ideal for live bait. Made from the same wire as the Aberdeen hooks, they will bend if hung on the bottom of some structure. However, once a fish is hooked, the design of the hook prevents it from being straightened.
Hook Choice!

First, use common sense. As simple as that may sound, I can’t tell you the number of times I have seen people make some really bad hook choices. Match the hook size with the fish!
Second, use some trial and error and learn from your mistakes. No one became a good fisherman overnight. All of us had to learn either from someone else or by trial and error.
Thirdly, get a good brand of hook, such as Sakuma or Mustad. Try to avoid cheap hooks for the reason that they are just not up for the job, you don’t want to let that fish of a life time get away because of a crap hook bend out on you! If you are going to spend any money on Terminal tackle you hooks should be the number one first choice.

My personal favourites are Sakuma Singers and Mustad Worm hooks for flatfish and Mustad Aberdeen and Ultra Point Bass Hooks for Bottom Fishing for Huss off the rocks where a stronger hook is needed but a larger gape for bigger baits is required.

Finally, to all of you who are new to fishing, try taking these examples and build your learning experiences upon them. Trial and error are often the best teachers in any skill.

I have new klein hand tools, journeyman series, and i want to prevent them from getting rusted like my previously owned klein Hand tools. What type of spray silicone should i use? How much does it cost? Where can it be bought?

There’s a silicone-free version that’s best for use on tools that will come into contact with woods that will be finished later.
