Make Your House Enviable With Split Air Conditioner
The Split type air-conditioner is gaining popularity over window type mainly because this type of air conditioner can be mounted easily anywhere with no requirement for a window and it has a beautiful sleek appearance. They have low cost of installation though the capital cost is slightly high.
Though there may be a little increase in power consumption in split type compared to a window type, the running cost is almost same for both the air-conditioner and there is practically no difference in efficiency.
Unlike window type, a split system has condensing unit outside. This leads to a major advantage in a split type as the noise level remains low since the noisy part, the compressor, is kept outside. The evaporation panel remains within the house. The sleek model placed on the wall and the interconnecting pipes kept outside increases the aesthetic sense of the room to a large extent. There is no need to make a provision of window in your room or to remodel your existing window to mount a split type air conditioner, unlike window type.
In a split air-conditioner, the indoor unit sucks air from the room and throws it back to the room after cooling and removing moisture from it, while the outdoor unit removes the heat to the atmosphere. Before you select a split type air conditioner, it is important that you have certain basic ideas briefed in the following paragraphs.
We know that our body temperature is 99 degrees Fahrenheit (37 Celsius). In order to have a comfortable room, it is needed to have a temperature between 70 to 79 degrees F (21 to 26 Celsius) with a relative humidity range of 20 to 50%.
It is important to calculate the heat load of a room which needs to be removed as a low capacity ac will not be able to cool the room and a higher capacity ac will make the room humid.
An air-conditioner`s heating or cooling capacities are rated by watts or kilowatts. Normally a room having two occupants carries away 50 British thermal units (BTUs) of heat per hour, per square foot of the room area. One Kilowatt is equivalent to 3400 BTUs per hour. This means for a 15 feet x 15 feet room size, an air-conditioner having a capacity of 11250 BTU (15 feet x 15 feet x 50 BTU/houtr) will be required. With this, 600 BTU/hr for every person and 1000 BTU/hr for each appliance need to be added.
Also try to avoid three phase connection which is difficult to maintain and expensive to install and go for single phase connection. Normally the efficiency of the air-conditioner is measured by energy efficiency rating (EER) which is the ratio of cooling capacity to the power consumption and the thumb rule is the higher the EER the better is the cooling.
The insulation of the room should be proper to have a good air-conditioning. Also the faster the airflow rate the better is the cooling however be sure to buy a system having higher moisture removal rate. Check for a low noise level of less than 50 decibels for your air-conditioner.
Rotary vane type compressors are normally recommended over the other type of compressors. These compressors have less number of moving parts than reciprocating compressors.
In split type of air-conditioner auto control facilities are available which are auto timers, auto sleep mode, auto restart, remote control, auto diagnosis self test, filter cleaning warning alarm/LED, automatic changeover to dehumidification, etc to name a few.
Make sure to consider the above features before you buy a sleek and elegant split-ac for your living room or dining room or the conference room in your office. Some of the popular models in the market are Toshiba, Daikin, Hitachi, LG and Ogeneral.
Chicago Remodeling: A Newer Look for Your Old House
A state like Chicago is filled with elegant and stylish houses and if you happen to live there, there is really a need to make your house equally stand out with the rest. When your house shows signs of weakening, it is better for you to remodel or renovate instead of buying a whole new property. Your house is a place where many memories took place so you need to preserve and beautify it. In Chicago, remodeling or renovation of your house is one big decision that the entire family must make. It involves careful planning, budget allocation and creativity.
The first thing to do would be to inspect and assess the whole structure of the house. Have a home inspector check out the walls, the roof, the ceiling, the flooring, the rooms, the attic and the basement. It is also necessary to check the insulation, electrical works and the plumbing details. Once you have the report derived from the output, you will then have an estimate as to how much you will spend for the Chicago remodeling of your abode.
The next step would be to plan by stages the renovation. You can first concentrate on the roof followed by the ceiling. The walls and the woodworks should be next. The flooring should be the next phase to be remodeled. If there are some cabinets that you no longer need in one certain room, you may still be able to use them in the basement or attic. Reuse old stuff as much as possible. If there are some rock-hard posts in the house that cannot be removed, do not destroy them but instead use your creativity to plan something around them.
In renovating your kitchen, make sure you follow the work triangle design which links the cook top, the sink and the refrigerator for a systematic food preparation. You can repaint the cabinets or remove them and install ones with different shapes. Chicago kitchen remodeling is fun and brings out the creativity in you.
The bedrooms can also be remodeled depending on the taste and personality of its user. To create a minimalist look, the bed and cabinets can be built-in. The bathrooms are the most commonly-used rooms therefore attention here should also be given. The first step to take in Chicago bathroom remodeling would be to take away all the fixtures. The tiles on the walls and floors should be stripped out next. The bare walls and flooring should be properly cleaned and any remaining grout or caulk must be removed. Paint them with the color of your choice. Install the new fixtures once the paint has dried. New tiles should then be placed on the walls and flooring. Your bathroom in the first floor should be below the one in the second floor so that you save more money by using the same pipes.
The last step would be to paint the exterior of the house so that it would look totally new. House remodeling can save you money and with the right plan and design, you can make a profit if you decide to sell it with its new look.
Remodeling a Craftsman style house, anyone who is familiar with this style please help?
I recently bought a house that was built in 1928. It has a definite Art Deco/Craftsman/Arts & Crafts feel. I would like to restore as much as possible true to this design period. I specifically like styles such as William Morris and Frank Lloyd Wright. Any tips –especially websites, catalogs, and stores from which I could purchase original or reproduction pieces– would be most appreciated.
Restoration Hardware has a great selection of furniture, accessories, hardware, lighting, etc. that fit that style perfectly. www.restorationhardware.com
Bath pink – take your place, paint or leave as is?
We have a house in 1950. The upstairs bathroom has a bath melt iron rose. Redid our bathroom down, and replaced the tub with plastic out there, I'm not crazy. We have a bathroom with toilet paper roses. The fund screen will not stay in and we will do anything to the walls. My husband is going to install a fan, so remodeling is our future. I do not know whether to replace the bathtub with a plastic white rose, painting the white tub, or just let the rose and try to find a pattern of colors to go with tub pink?
Does any body knows how much remodeling a 3 bed 2 bath?
A fortune, if you do all the work you same. With home prices in the bathroom at all, I would seriously consider buying a home in good condition instead of putting money in a good second-order the house loses value. We could be facing several years of declining home values.

Is it possible to apply directly to the stucco plaster? Will it stick? Is it crack?
This is an exterior wall that has been renovated and is now an interior wall. I want you to look less out-ish. The curves of the wall where you do not want to just put plaster on it. If the plaster can be applied directly on it, what kind? Hello, sorry but I have to answer this from the British point of view. I thought it might, but will depend on how "rough" stucco (UK = give) is. If it were me, I do not splinter large peak / peaks, and then apply a coat or two of sealer to seal the wall – 50:50 diluted white glue will. Let dry then apply two coats of what we call MULTIFINISH (essentially a topcoat). Work!

Would it be unusual for a ceiling fan in the bathroom?
I'm in the middle of having my bathroom remodeled. The only thing left is have a light. We have a ceiling light in place of the wall. Would it be unusual to put a ceiling fan does not? Has anyone heard of this or that? The contractor told me to choose a light for installation. Spare parts I have a ceiling fan and wonder if it would be good. I have very large 9 1 / 2 foot ceiling in the room so it would be be in place fairly high. What do you think?
I can assure you that the ceiling fan in the bathroom is not unusual because, especially in these days heat will be very useful, because sitting and sweating in the bathroom can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. In most cases, people install the fan absorbs air bath, so the performance of steam engines and smell, but this requires a full installation of escape behavior. I can proudly say that I use a ceiling fan in my bathroom and feel the breeze is nice. Since you like to have the lights on the ceiling, I recommend purchasing a ceiling fan with light. More useful information on how to select and install the ceiling fan on the right is a link in my signature / source.
