Should I make home improvements on my town home?
I have a town house in southern California. It is 1650 square feet, 3bd/2.5 ba, has a yard and 2 car garage.
I want to do some light remodeling: new kitchen cabinets, granite countertops in kitchen and bathrooms, update bathroom tubs, and other things. My whole project will cost about $27,000 for materials. No labor costs.
My wife and I plan to remain living in the town home for at least another 5 years because starting a family. We will have our place paid off (& will be debt free) in a few months and may possibly sell it one day if our neighborhood gets bad. But we may never move because real estate is SUPER expensive near the beach where we live.
Is $27,000 too much to invest in my town house? My reason for the updates is not for resell but to make our home more custom.
I want us to be happy with what we have so we don’t go house poor buying a fancier house.
Also, should we save our money for 18 months to pay for the project in full, or should we get a loan?

Use a monitor (TV) to multiple computers through the router?
I am remodeling my basement and have a flat screen TV in the wall. There are 4 computers around my house (top and bottom). I would be able to access one from the basement and the use of wall-mounted flat screen as the monitor. Is there any program or piece of equipment that allows me to do this? Right now occasionally use my 46 "screen Samsung flat as a monitor for my MacBook. I think it would connect the MacBook to the TV in the basement, access to other computers through it … I do not want to pass cables through the house to do so. I have an Airport Extreme router and wish to use to do … Any networking gurus please advise. Thanks!
RealVNC just want them (no Mac, Linux and PC versions) and use it to "desktop Remotely "on other machines. (The core team would show another machine on the big screen.) Simple, easy and cheap. It is running on the network that way. Otherwise, you must use a very complex KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) and cables not actually work for machines that are more than 20 meters away. Anyone have experience of building a bunk bed?
I am looking for my son to build their own bunk. I have experience in carpentry (Remodeled two kitchens), but not finishing the experiment. I'm sure you can find some good pictures online and have no problem to build frameworks, but I have one and I never did Rowde large sanding, staining, and all the little details that make it look finished. In fact, apart from pine to guess, even know which things to select. Suggestions?
We had a set of two by four pine boards, which is manufactured in the factory. Very simple, really. Just be sure to put two and two and a center to prepare for the mattress to sit. Ours was a hole in the top of a set of legs and bottom of the another series to a pin 3 / 8 to going to keep on top of others. They worked very well. Only sand the edges a little and remove the parts that are obvious. Good luck.
